Profile
Eko Prasetio is a partner in the finance practice in FikryGunawan with over 14 years’ of experiences advising international and Indonesian clients on investments in the infrastructure and energy sector. His practice sector includes a wide range of sectors, including power generation, renewables, mining, port, toll road, oil and gas, insurance and financial institutions.
Before co-founding FikryGunawan, Eko started his career in Soewito Suhardiman Eddymurthy Kardono, the largest independent law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright in Jakarta, before joining Clifford Chance through its associated office in Jakarta. Eko is very knowledgeable and well versed in very wide range of aspects of doing business in Indonesia and have lead many transactions in different sectors.
Eko’s core sector also includes insurance and financial services. Eko has extensive experiences advising wide range of world’s renown insurers from its JV aspect, regulatory, product development, including back-end insurance claims. Eko’s long practice in the insurance sector means he oversee the regulatory transformation from the Ministry of Finance regime to the Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan or OJK).
In 2010, Eko took a short stint practicing commercial litigation to gain an on-hand experience doing litigation in Indonesia. Eko now also practices disputes management to bridge the gap between foreign investors and local litigators. Eko is also well versed in contentious manpower issues.

Advising Nebras Power in the US$1.3 billion acquisition of Paiton Energy, a 2GW coal-powered power plant.

Advising lenders (including DEG and SCB) in the financing to Karadeniz in the first 120MW gas powered marine power plant to be stationed in Amurang, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Advising various lenders in up to US$1.5 billion loan (including EDC, HEXIM, SocGen, KEXIM and SACE) to Indonesia's state utility company (PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero)) in the development of 501MW Grati peaker power project and purchase of TM2500+ mobile turbines.

Advising consortium of lenders lead by Maybank in the US$340 million refinancing of the 2 x 90MW Asahan hydro power plant in North Sumatra.

Advising private equity houses and investment companies in the acquisition of renewable projects, including mini hydro, sub-10MW gas-fired power plants and geothermal.

Advising PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II in the development of Kalibaru Terminal, a complex and politically significant project, with total project value of up to US$4 billion. Work includes inception of the project, extensive negotiation of the first concession agreement under the auspices of the 2008 Shipping Law with the Port Authority and the Directorate General of Sea Transport, Ministry of Transport, extensive negotiation with operator company (Mitsui Co. consortium), in the JV arrangement and the construction and operation agreement.

Advising SMBC in US$90 million financing to PT Pertamina (Persero) for the purchase of MR tanker vessels.

Acting as lead Indonesian counsel to one of the largest and most complex court-ordered corporate restructuring of PT Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama which involves up to 35 creditors, including PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (Persero).

Advising Gunvor in the acquisition of PT Oiltanking Karimun.

Advising Astra in the acquisition of Aviva Life in Indonesia. The deal was later nominated in the Deal of the Year Award of 2014.
